Snow Farm: The New England Craft Program (www.snowfarm.org), a nonprofit, residential craft school in Williamsburg, MA (just 15 minutes from Northampton) is looking for a Studio Manager. The ideal candidate has studio and basic office experience and an aptitude for repairing tools and troubleshooting equipment. The position also includes lifting and moving heavy objects.
Reporting to the Facilities Director, the Studio Manager position manages 8 studios (wood, textiles, 2D, welding, clay, flat glass, flameworking, small metals, and eventually glass blowing) so that studios are functional, safe, organized, and clean for workshops.
Reporting to the Studio Manager, the Studio Assistant assists in making sure 8 studios (wood, textiles, painting/drawing welding, clay, glass, flameworking, small metals, and eventually glass blowing) are functional, safe, organized, and clean for workshops.
Both positions are full-time; weekend work required during May-Nov. Includes paid vacation, holidays, and sick days; unfortunately, health insurance benefits are not available at this time. Staff members enjoy home cooked lunches May-Oct and free/reduced workshops!
Qualifications:
- Good written and verbal communication.
- Ability to multitask, organize, prioritize, and follow-through to meet deadlines and goals.
- Studio experience in any of these studios: welding, stained glass, metalsmithing, glass blowing, clay, wood, flameworking, textiles, painting/drawing. Safety conscientious.
- Experience with office software such as Excel, Google Docs.
- Ability to lift 100 lbs and be on your feet for 8 hours.
- A sense of humor, collaborative spirit, flexible, and strong team ethic.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent desired.
